Description: The Windows and Android platforms offer users many built-in accessibility tools: text-to-speech, voice recognition, and magnification, to name a few. With the help of these features, college students can become more productive in their coursework and access their course content, utilizing tools that may already be available on their computer. In this two-day training, participants will learn what the built-in accessibility features do and how they can help students with different needs.
At the end of this training, participants will understand and be able to perform these tasks:
  • How to activate and set up assistive features on a Windows computer or Android device
  • Navigating the computer using text-to-speech and screen reading tools
  • Reading webpages, documents, and email by using the text-to-speech and screen reading tools
  • Accessing and adjusting the magnification settings for specific tasks, such as reading documents
  • Dictating text and navigating applications by voice
  • Activating and utilizing the personal assistant to access email, weather, music, or calendar
