Description: Through this train we will explore how various mobile apps can assist both teachers and students with note taking skills within the classroom. We will explore the accessibility features and benefits of different note taking apps. Through this train we will explore how the various note taking apps can assist both teachers and students with making information more accessible. We will focus on math application in the morning and expended the discussion to other disciplines in the afternoon. Below is a list of possible apps. Apps may be added and removed as the app environment changes. Training will provide both demonstration and hands-on practice. Morning: 10:30-12:30 Focus on Ipad apps for math: Merritt College and Peralta Math department and DSPS 1. Notability: written notes and audio during class 2. Notepad Free 3. Goodnotes: Zoom capabilities 4. Padlet Lunch: 12:30-1:30pm Afternoon: 1:30-3:30pm: All DSPS and hands-on practice Laney or Merritt (TBD) 1. Practice with morning note taking apps 2. Ipad accessibility tools 3. Sonocent: still images and audio during class 4. Inspiration, Mind mapping Participants will be able to do the following: 1. Identify ways of helping teachers integrate accessible apps into curriculum 2. Identify ways of using apps to support students with disabilities Intended for community college staff who primarily support students with learning disabilities and faculty who teach general education classes
Reimbursement Level: Please be advised that reimbursement is only available for travel expenses for California community college Disabled Student Services Faculty and Staff. Hotel expenses will not be reimbursed.
