Description: Math accessibility remains one of the most difficult challenges for print impaired students. This two-day training explores the current state of math access, ranging from manipulatives to electronic text.
Training Objectives
Participants will be able to do the following:
  • understand the range of options for creating math access from low-tech to high-tech
  • be familiar with a wide variety of manipulatives
  • recognize the need for tactile graphics
  • understand how to create Nemeth and UEB braille
  • understand how to develop and read electronic math documents
  • use Scientific Notebook and MathType
  • use talking calculators
Intended for alternate media specialists, DSPS directors, math instructors, and anyone else interested in the challenges of access to math for all students.
Reimbursement Level: Please be advised that reimbursement may be available for hotel and travel expenses for California community college Disabled Student Services Faculty and Staff.
