Notetaking is a foundational skill for success in college. Many students, however, still struggle with keeping up with class discussions and applying classroom content to their assignments. Thankfully there are many technologies and mobile apps that can help students become better note-takers and retain information from class. Some of these include Livescribe Smartpens, Sonocent Audio Notetaker, Notability, and AudioNote. This one-day workshop will explore a variety of notetaking apps and strategies that can help particular learners take better notes.
Training Objectives
Participants will be able to do the following:
- Identify methods of assessing learners' needs for notetaking assistive technology
- Distinguish features of various notetaking technologies, including Smartpens and Sonocent Audio Notetaker, and determine which AT best matches learners' needs
- Integrate proven notetaking strategies (e.g., Cornell notes method) with various assistive technologies
- Prescribe a process for students to export their notes and access them across multiple devices.
Intended for assistive technology specialists and anyone assisting students with notetaking solutions
